History

 In 2007 the Ministry of Transportation - The General Company of Lattakia Port announced an international bid to operate the Container Terminal within the Lattakia port. International port operating companies submitted bids, where the consortium of (CMA CGM- a leading worldwide shipping group and Souria Holding – a Syrian leading holding company, which is specialized in investments and urban development) won the bid for the purpose of managing the operations of handling containers in Lattakia port according to international standards. 

The contract between The General Company of Lattakia Port and Lattakia International Container Terminal/ LICT is the first Syrian participatory project between public and private sectors as per principle of shared revenues, with additional investment amounts of 45 Million USD.

In October 2009 LICT has started activities in operating and managing.

 

 

LICT has set benchmark of standards not yet ever achieved in Syria’s container marine industry in terms of excellent services, productivity and high efficiency.

Over a short period, Lattakia International Container Terminal passed over many obstacles, by training and qualifying the national manpower (about 650 employees from Syrian youth) to work in various operational and administration departments with professional and international standards. 

In 2020, the signed contract with LPGC extended for further five years.    

LICT uses one of the most important system implemented in international terminals (Terminal Operating System /TOS), which is internally linked with in-house system developed by Syrian engineers to adapt the local procedures and systems as an alternative of the traditional operation in Lattakia port.

We at LICT, work together to attract most important worlds’ shipping lines to “Lattakia Port”, in order to achieve a distinguished location in the Mediterranean area due the distinguished role in serving the Syrian foreign trade and neighboring countries.
